Editor's Letter 2018

I've seen myself riding camels through the Morocco desert, to singing Mr Brightside very loudly, and very badly in a club at 3am, witnessing my older cousin have a traditional Thai wedding ( and being a bridesmaid! ), having my first very own business meeting, getting my first pay check as a freelancer, to getting my first tattoo. I don't think I've ever consumed as much fast food, as well as alcohol. I've been lucky enough to explore more of my city and discover remarkable locations, that I had no idea existed, to forming and developing friendships and relationships that make me feel warm inside. These are only a couple of highlights, amongst many, that I've been extremely grateful to have experienced during 2018. I can't even tell you how many incredible sunsets I've seen this year, and not just in the UK.

The year has been full of significant fulfilments from the very smallest to the very largest, and I'm so pleased that I was able to achieve, and experience a lot of the things that I had wanted to. There has been a lot of throwing myself out of my comfort zone, or at least trying to do so, as much as I possibly could, which has resulted in growth and accomplishment. I'm so incredibly grateful for the people that I have met this year, and the happiness that we've shared together. I'm grateful for the ability to move further toward my dreams, and the support that I've been given to help me achieve them. I'm grateful for the opportunities that have been thrown my way, and the ability to take them. The list doesn't end. I'm eternally grateful for 2018.

You may have noticed that there has been obvious change to my blog, as I wish to turn this space into a lifestyle portal, which may be considered as more of an online magazine. I've been working very hard to do this, and to produce more content that goes out weekly. I have a few ideas that I wish to proceed with, in the new year, and I hope that what I have in mind, becomes very successful!

As the year comes to a close, I wish you a very happy and safe new year. I hope that 2019 brings abundance, prosperity, new experiences ( good ones! ), amazing relationships, development of skills and hobbies, career opportunities, security, trust, more stepping out of your comfort zone, and growth. I could go on forever. I wish that 2019 is unforgettable but in all the good ways possible, and that the year brings only the best. See you there!

Sustainable Christmas Ideas

Christmas is, undoubtedly one of the most magical and exciting times of the year. As we've now swooped into December, we're preparing for the chaotic last minute gift shopping, filling our tummies with mince pies, and snuggling up to thick knitted blankets whilst Home Alone is on repeat. We wanted to show you ways of being more eco-conscious and sustainable during the Christmas period, without being a Scrooge.

DIY Decorations
There's something special about handmade Christmas decorations, and if you have children this can be a wonderful way to get everyone into the spirit. DIY decorations can be a marvellous way of making seasonal memories, and can be handed down for generations to come. Not only this, but there are some incredibly easy ways to make and create decorations. Using natural elements, such as pine cones or branches, twigs and leaves make a super cosy and rustic feel. Think – paper or dried fruit garlands, homemade wreaths, and hanging paper decorations.

Wrap Smart
Brown paper packages, tied up with strings. Believe it or not, most wrapping paper is not recyclable, due to its dying and lamination. Each year 5000 football fields worth of wrapping paper goes to landfill. Wrap smart by opting for newspaper, or brown paper. You could even go paper-free by trying the Japanese Fusoshiki technique using reusable fabric, or placing your gifts in reusable tote bags.

Food Waste
It's no doubt that with Christmas, comes a banquet of endless self-indulging in snacks, and scrumptious foods. Although, excessive buying of food that gets abandoned, uneaten or can quickly go out of date, end up in the trash. Plan accordingly, and buy food in small quantities to ensure that no food goes to waste this Christmas.

Purchase Small
Purchasing from local brands, fair trade companies and businesses, is a wonderful way to support smaller companies during the seasonal period. Not only are you contributing to a hard working brand with a cause, you may find something more catered toward the person you're purchasing for, sightly more unique presents and gifts, than in your generic high street store or website. It's really a win win situation.

Tea Tree, Do You Love Me?

Did we really just use a Drake reference as our title? Pfft, no.. of course we didn't. Although, what better way to talk about the benefits of Tea Tree oil, whilst bringing Drake into the equation. Tea Tree oil, also known as Melaleuca Oil comes from the leaves of the Tea Tree plant, Melaleuca Alternifolia, which is native to south east Queensland, and the north east coast of New South Wales, Australia. Tea Tree oil can be found in many skincare and haircare products, and has been believed to have many healing benefits, medically. Uncover some of the amazing uses that Tea Tree oil has, below.

Anti-Inflammatory + Anti-Bacterial
Due to the oil's well-known property of being an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial saviour, Tea Tree oil can be used on a variety of infections, as well as being found in hand sanitizers and natural deodorants. It's an excellent addition to incorporate into your daily skincare routine to combat acne and blackheads. It's always better to consult a Doctor before using natural alternatives, especially on wounds and cuts. If you're using Tea Tree oil on the skin, its always advised to dilute the oil, with a carrier oil such as almond or coconut.

Known to reduce anxiety and improve sleep, fill the air with the refreshing scent of Tea Tree using a diffuser. Aromatherapy as a whole, is a wonderful way to boost or relax the mood of a room. Diffusing Tea Tree oil can also help cleanse and clarify the air, as well as helping with your sinuses, and awakening your senses. If you don't like the smell of Tea Tree on it's own, you can use a blend of Eucalyptus and Lemon.

Cleaning Product
Going back to the anti-bacterial properties, Tea Tree oil can work wonders as a natural cleaning product. If you're not fond of using the traditional, chemically filled cleaning products that you find in your local supermarkets, using Tea Tree oil to create your own multi-purpose cleaner at home, might just be the best natural alternative for you. Add 10 drops of Tea Tree oil, to 2 cups of hot water, and half a cup of vinegar to create a general disinfectant.

Hair Growth
By unclogging hair follicles and nourishing your roots, Tea Tree oil is a wonderful treatment to use on your scalp and in your hair. When diluted, Tea Tree oil is an excellent natural alternative to common haircare options. Using Tea Tree alongside Coconut oil, can help reduce dandruff, and stimulate hair growth. Mix a tablespoon of coconut oil, and a couple of drops of tea tree oil, massage onto the scalp, and leave for 10 mins, before thoroughly washing away with normal shampoo and conditioner.

October 09, 2018

I had a lovely discussion with Hannah – one of the founders of newly launched Hugo's Chocolate Club, and she had told me that Hugo's main focus is ensuring that the chocolate is of the right flavour, and from the right producers. They offer British artisan chocolate delivered straight to your door, and who doesn't love chocolate? You're able to subscribe monthly, or either with a three, six, or twelve month membership. I'm super excited to partner with them, and get an insight into what the company is about. Subscription boxes are extremely in trend right now, but I haven't personally seen anything specifically catered toward just chocolate, and I was left very intrigued.

souk delights

i ended up buying a majority ( if not everything ) from the moroccan souks. i mainly bought gifts to bring home, which included spices and tea, solid perfume and argan oil. i wanted to share with you, 3 of the main items that i purchased, which you can tell from the picture, are fashion and beauty related.

6am flight - yawn. slightly blurred but the moon was peeping through.

who would've thought that i'd be basking in the heat, sipping french martinis next a rooftop pool, and riding a camel through the desert during sundown? not me. but i'm hella grateful that i was, and able to. marrakech was a place that i dreamed of visiting for quite sometime. i would always come across amazing photos on tumblr and pinterest, and had set aside morocco on my travel bucket list. to finally visit was bewildering, and the 3 hour flight from london to menara airport was an easy breeze, as i was asleep for the entire journey. the taxi drove us from the airport to hotel, and we had passed sunbathing camels along the way. we stayed for 6 days, and i'll be sharing pics from my travels in upcoming posts.

hope you enjoy! xxx

lunch time - greek salad and salmon tagliatelle accompanied by a cosmo and french martini.

pretty chandelier from the hotel.

June 11, 2018

I've gone makeup free for almost 2 whole months now (other than pops of lipstick) and this entire process had me questioning a lot. Thinking to myself that, 'isn't it weird that not wearing makeup can been seen more unusual than actually wearing makeup?' How we're encouraged by marketing schemes that by using certain products we develop into more desirable and beautiful individuals. That by following whatever beauty trends that are current you become.. more attractive? The dependence that we have on makeup to make us feel better, more structured within our day to day lives, or a form of escapism from our true selves. All very deep things to think about, but as an individual who has been wearing makeup from her early teens, I suppose this was a wake up that was needed.

April 16, 2018

I'm so so sad to write this post but due to recent events, I've been left to throw away 98% of my makeup and skincare. Welp. Last Sunday morning, I had woken to find the right side of my face almost entirely covered in cuts, scabbing and blisters, which left ya girl shook. It was later on, that I had found out that my skin had most likely reacted to the products that I had used the night before, which had caused an inconvenient and not very pretty skin infection.

April 10, 2018

I want to keep this somewhat short and sweet because I've tried to write this post multiple times and for whatever reason I can't seem to piece my words together, even though I know exactly what I'm trying to say. I wanted to discuss the act of letting yourself go, because this is something that I've been practising since the end of 2017, and by doing so I have realised how much of a flourish this can truly be.

March 23, 2018

L'Oréal had kindly sent me the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation quite some time ago, and I had never gotten around to reviewing it because it hadn't been a product that I had reached for until now. Foundation is not something I ever wear, full stop. In general I prefer a good tinted moisturiser, BB or CC cream, because I find the formulas a lot lighter and the coverage natural. I also find that I only ever want to apply foundation when I feel as if I'm having an awful skin day. The Vichy Dermablend Foundation comes in 11 shades and is a high coverage, long-hold foundation suitable for minor to moderate skin concerns including acne and blemishes, dark circles, rosacea, tattoos and scars. It claims to have 24-hour hydration, lasts up to 16 hours, has SPF 35 and is paraben free and hypoallergenic.

March 17, 2018

I was beyond over the moon when Photowall got in contact with me. I've been on the search for wall art for such a long time now, and I've never known exactly what I've wanted. I'm obsessed with Scandinavian interiors, and I thoroughly enjoy mixing minimalism with texture and warmth. My bedroom is very much my hiding space, my own little place filled with collected treasures and wonder. It wasn't until the end of last year that I began to make a few changes to my room, and I definitely wanted to invest in some gorgeous wall art, a mix of whimsical pieces to give my space a little something extra.

January 27, 2018

For me, personally, I would choose skincare over make-up any day. A good base creates a good canvas, and therefore a better piece of art. I'm really into skincare products as there are so many out there to try, and it can always be a hit and miss situation. It really helps if you know your skin type because you can then search for products that suit you and your needs, but whatever I've been doing to my skin right now has been working like a charm. ( I could do with that extra glow, but maybe I just need more sleep! )

January 18, 2018

My diet is starting to get slightly back on track after overly self-indulging in sweet treats and Pre-Christmas, Christmas, and Post-Christmas food lol. I don't think I can stomach chocolate for a while ( even though, I did have a little bit of chocolate cake the other day, sorry not sorry ), but the thought makes me feel a bit ill. I'm stunned that January is almost very nearly over, it literally just begun!! My 2018 has started marvellously, with lots of fearless decision making and many opportunities taken. How has your 2018 started off?

I need to update a lot of little things on here, and hopefully I will get to it soon. In general I'm finding it really hard to balance my time, and I certainly need to read up on ways to schedule properly and appropriately. That being said, I wanted to create a mood board to set the tone of this year. For me, this is a representation of good food, good relationships, good atmosphere and good fashion. All goodness – that's my aim.

I have set aside a few goals which are mainly quite personal, but I can pinpoint a few amongst many others, which are: consuming less animal products and shopping from smaller businesses. Let me know below if there are any goals you've made for this year!

I've also created a little playlist to help skim through the rest of January, and will probably leave this up until it starts to get annoying. It's mainly a collection of songs that have been ridiculously stuck in my head or have endlessly been on repeat. You can listen here if you have spotify.

By the way, is anyone keeping up with Men's Fashion Week? What's been your fav show so far?

lots and lots of love

January 03, 2018

You were a jumble of mishaps, 'what ifs' and 'buts' and 'maybes'. You were ungrateful at times, making me feel things I didn't want to feel, and putting me in situations I didn't necessarily want to find myself in. At some points, you were making me run for my life, physically and mentally. You made me question myself constantly, you torn me into pieces and threw me up into the air, made me sew myself back together again. You were like the sun on my back, distant but always there: waving me goodbye and also good morning.
